SPECIALIST MULTI-CAT SUPPORT

Multi-Cat Rehabilitation & Re-Socialisation

When relationships between cats break down, simply putting them back together and hoping they will “work it out” can increase fear, stress and conflict. Multi-Cat Rehabilitation & Re-Socialisation is designed for households experiencing ongoing tension, aggression, fear, avoidance or a breakdown in the relationship between cats.

Rebuilding Relationships Between Cats

The aim is not to force cats to become friends. It is to understand what is driving the conflict, identify the individual needs of each cat, reduce sources of stress and create the conditions in which safe and appropriate relationships can gradually be rebuilt. Depending on the individual household, this may involve environmental and resource assessment, separation and management strategies, gradual reintroduction, scent and visual re-familiarisation, positive association, monitoring of feline body language and progressive adjustment of the rehabilitation strategy.

THIS SERVICE MAY BE APPROPRIATE FOR:

“The goal isn't to force friendship. It's to create safety, reduce conflict and give each cat the opportunity to rebuild trust at their own pace.”

BEFORE WE BEGIN

Before Your Behaviour Consultation

Behaviour is communication, but changes in behaviour can also be influenced by pain, illness or other underlying medical conditions. For this reason, veterinary assessment is an important part of the behavioural process.

01

Veterinary Check

Before your behaviour consultation, your cat should be assessed by their veterinarian to help identify or rule out medical factors that may be contributing to the behaviour.
02

Medical History

Where relevant, please arrange for your cat’s veterinary medical history and any recent diagnostic results to be forwarded to Cat Whispering at meow@catwhispering.com.au before your consultation.
03

Behaviour Consultation

Once relevant medical factors have been considered, we can explore your cat’s behaviour within the broader context of their environment, experiences, relationships and individual needs.

PLEASE NOTE: If behavioural medication is being considered, please discuss this with Jules and your veterinarian as part of the behavioural assessment process. Do not commence, cease or alter prescribed medication without veterinary advice.
